THE CHALLENGE:

For the 2019/20 FA Cup, BT Sport needed to make a series of promos, covering each round of the competition. Their idea was to create a homage to the classic Creature Comforts series, using unscripted audio with fans talking about their love for the FA Cup and it's history and relevance in the modern day.

THE SOLUTION:

The promo team at BT Sport went out and recorded audio of fans, fashioning a script-of-sorts for each promo. We responded by developing the characters and scenarios/locations, being led by the personalities of the voices.

Each spot was built and animated in 3d in a stop-motion style.

DELIVERABLES:

6x 30" promos

OUTCOME:

This was an unusual project as it was interrupted midway by COVID-19. When sport resumed in the summer, a rescheduled FA Cup meant creating an extra promo, plus the semi-final and final promos over a very narrow timeframe. With the team working remotely, everything was delivered on-time and on-budget.

The campaign also received two Promax nominations, for Best Campaign and Best Use of Animation/Graphic Design.
